Second-Generation Off-Road Design
The second-generation PRO Stealth Offroad has been redeveloped from the rails upwards rather than receiving only a new cover or graphic treatment.
The design refines the saddle’s base shape, pressure-relief area, structural support and side profile to create a more complete gravel and mountain bike racing platform.
The core objectives are:
- Stable support in a forward position
- Efficient power transfer
- Reduced central pressure
- Controlled off-road compliance
- Better movement around the bicycle
- Increased durability around exposed edges
- Improved control when cornering
This distinguishes the PRO Stealth Offroad from a conventional road saddle fitted with thicker padding.
Short-Nose Stealth Profile
The short-nose shape reduces unnecessary material ahead of the rider while supporting a forward pelvic position.
Potential benefits include:
- Easier movement into an aggressive position
- Reduced interference at the front of the saddle
- Stable support during hard climbing
- Improved comfort when riding low over the handlebars
- A clearly defined power position
- Reduced pressure from an excessively long saddle nose
This shape particularly suits modern gravel and cross-country bikes with relatively long reach measurements and performance-focused cockpits.
A short saddle should be positioned using its anatomical centre rather than copying the nose-to-handlebar measurement from a traditional long saddle. Otherwise, the rider may unintentionally position it too far forward or rearward.
Anatomic Fit Pressure-Relief Recess
The central Anatomic Fit recess is designed to reduce concentrated pressure through sensitive soft tissue.
Unlike a narrow decorative channel, the recess extends through a substantial portion of the saddle’s usable seating area.
Off-Road Drainage Port
The central recess incorporates a drainage port that allows water and mud to escape instead of collecting inside the saddle.
This is useful during:
- Wet gravel racing
- Muddy mountain bike rides
- Creek crossings
- Tropical summer storms
- Bicycle washing
- Cyclocross events
The port should still be inspected after muddy rides because compacted dirt can obstruct drainage.
Off-Road-Specific Padding
The Performance version uses lightweight EVA padding developed for gravel and mountain bike riding, while the Sport version uses a durable off-road polyurethane padding arrangement.
The padding is intended to balance:
- Impact reduction
- Surface support
- Pedalling stability
- Low weight
- Long-term shape retention
- Control on rough terrain
The PRO Stealth Offroad should not be expected to feel like a deeply padded recreational saddle. Its padding supports the body while maintaining a stable relationship between the rider and bicycle.
Excessively soft foam can allow the pelvis to sink or move, increasing friction and reducing pedalling stability. The PRO Stealth Offroad instead uses controlled support suited to racing and faster riding.
Carbon-Reinforced Base
Both versions use a carbon-reinforced base to provide efficient support beneath the rider.
Reinforced bridges underneath the shell increase structural stiffness around key load paths.
Potential benefits include:
- Improved power transfer
- Reduced unwanted shell movement
- Stable rail support
- Controlled compliance
- Lower weight than basic plastic construction
- Greater consistency during hard seated efforts
The base is not designed to be completely rigid. Carefully controlled flex remains important for reducing vibration and preventing the saddle from feeling excessively harsh on rough terrain.
Taller Wrapped Sides
The second-generation design uses taller, ergonomically wrapped sides.
These side sections are intended to provide:
- Additional control while cornering
- A defined surface against which the legs can stabilise
- Smooth transitions when moving behind the saddle
- Improved cover protection
- Reduced snagging around cycling shorts
- Greater durability during off-road use
The taller sides are particularly relevant during technical riding, where cyclists move around the bike rather than remaining seated in one fixed position.
Durable Polyurethane Cover
The polyurethane cover is selected for resistance to conditions commonly encountered during gravel and mountain bike riding.
These include:
- Abrasion
- Mud
- Water
- Fine dust
- Repeated movement
- Contact with cycling shorts
- Occasional impact or handling damage
The cover wraps around exposed edges to protect the padding and underlying base.
Although polyurethane is hard-wearing, it can still be damaged by sharp tools, crashes, abrasive saddle bags or aggressive cleaning chemicals.
INOX Stainless-Steel Rails
The PRO Stealth Offroad Performance uses INOX stainless-steel rails.
Advantages include:
- Corrosion resistance
- High structural strength
- Standard round-rail compatibility
- Strong durability in wet or muddy environments
- Lower cost than carbon rails
- Reduced risk of impact damage compared with ultralight carbon rails
The approximately 7x7mm round format is compatible with many standard two-bolt seatpost clamps.
Chromoly Sport Rails
The PRO Stealth Offroad Sport uses chromoly steel rails.
Chromoly provides:
- Strong impact resistance
- Good durability
- Standard clamp compatibility
- Useful vibration absorption
- Accessible replacement cost
- Suitability for everyday off-road riding
The Sport rails include recycled material, helping reduce the use of newly produced steel without changing the saddle’s basic installation requirements.
