Hi-MOD carbon construction
Cannondale’s Hi-MOD construction combines high-strength carbon fibres with carefully positioned high-modulus fibres. This allows material to be concentrated where stiffness and load control are required while removing unnecessary weight elsewhere. The result is a light frame with the direct response expected from a top-level road racing bike, without making the entire structure excessively rigid.
Proportional Response engineering
The carbon layup and geometry are adjusted according to frame size rather than simply scaling one master design. This helps smaller frames avoid feeling overly stiff and larger frames maintain adequate torsional control. It also allows trail, fork offset and rider weight distribution to remain more consistent across the size range.
Gen 5 aerodynamic development
The frame uses tube profiles developed around each section’s structural and aerodynamic requirements. Cannondale has refined the head tube, fork, seat tube, seatpost and frame junctions to reduce drag without turning the SuperSix EVO into a heavy, single-purpose aero bike. Compared with Gen 4, Gen 5 is intended to provide a further reduction in drag across a range of yaw angles while also lowering system weight.
Delta steerer integration
The distinctive Delta-shaped steerer creates room for concealed brake hoses while reducing the frontal area around the head tube. It produces a clean, aerodynamic cockpit and can work with compatible Cannondale integrated or separate bar-and-stem configurations. Internal routing looks exceptionally tidy, although installation and later servicing should be handled by a workshop familiar with integrated road bike systems.
BSA threaded bottom bracket
The 68 mm threaded bottom bracket is a welcome service-friendly feature. Compared with many press-fit arrangements, it simplifies bearing replacement, gives riders access to a broad range of crank-compatible bottom brackets and can make diagnosing unwanted noise easier.
UDH compatibility
The Universal Derailleur Hanger standard improves the availability of replacement hangers and provides a contemporary foundation for compatible drivetrains. It is particularly useful for Australian riders travelling interstate or overseas, where locating an older model-specific hanger can otherwise become difficult.
Integrated aerodynamic hydration
The included CarbonGrip cages and Gripper Aero bottles are shaped as part of the complete aerodynamic system. They smooth airflow around the down tube and seat tube while the cages remain capable of accepting conventional round bottles when required.
Quality and durability
Cannondale states that the Hi-MOD structure is engineered to meet its stiffness and fatigue requirements despite the low claimed weight. As with every lightweight carbon race frame, correct assembly is essential. Appropriate torque settings, compatible components and professional inspection should be treated as part of the build rather than optional extras.
