Compatibility Notes

Designed for SRAM Flattop-compatible drivetrains only.
Not suitable for Shimano, Campagnolo, SRAM Eagle MTB, SRAM 11-speed road or older non-Flattop SRAM systems.
Chain length must be sized correctly to the cassette, chainring and frame setup.
A new PowerLock should be used when installing or reconnecting the chain.

Flattop Chain Technology

SRAM’s Flattop design uses a unique link profile that allows the chain to be narrower while maintaining strength and durability. This helps the chain run quietly across modern SRAM AXS road and gravel cassettes.

Hard Chrome Wear Protection

Hard Chrome plating on the inner link plates and rollers helps reduce chain wear over time. This is especially useful for high-mileage riders, gravel riders and cyclists training regularly in dusty, wet or gritty conditions.

Solid Pin Construction

The solid pin design supports strength and reliability under load, making the chain suitable for sprinting, climbing, endurance road riding and high-torque efforts on gravel.

Weight-Reducing Link Cut-Outs

The Force E1 chain uses cut-outs in the inner and outer link plates to reduce weight while keeping the chain strong enough for performance riding.

PowerLock Connector

The included SRAM Flattop PowerLock provides a secure connection designed for SRAM Flattop chains. It simplifies installation and gives riders a factory-correct connection point when replacing a chain.

Quiet and Efficient Drivetrain Feel

When matched with compatible SRAM AXS chainrings and cassettes, the Force E1 Flattop chain helps deliver smooth, refined and quiet shifting across a wide gear range.

Chain Fitment

Links: 126
Speed: 12-speed road / 13-speed XPLR AXS
Connector: Flattop PowerLock
Chain Direction: Non-directional installation on listed Force E1 variants

Fit Recommendation

Before ordering or installing, confirm:

Your drivetrain uses SRAM Flattop chain technology
Your cassette is 12-speed road or 13-speed XPLR AXS
Your chainring is compatible with SRAM Flattop chains
Your required chain length is correct for your cassette and chainring size
Your derailleur capacity matches your drivetrain setup
A new PowerLock connector is available for installation

Installation Notes

Size the chain correctly before installation.
Use a quality chain breaker designed for modern 12/13-speed chains.
Install using the included SRAM Flattop PowerLock.
Do not reuse worn quick links for performance riding.
Check shifting adjustment after fitting a new chain.

The SRAM Force E1 Flattop Chain is best suited to riders who want smooth, quiet and durable shifting from a modern SRAM AXS road or gravel drivetrain.

Best Suited For

SRAM Force AXS riders replacing a worn chain
SRAM RED AXS or Rival AXS riders using compatible Flattop drivetrains
SRAM XPLR AXS gravel riders
Road racers and criterium riders
Fast bunch ride cyclists
Endurance road cyclists
Gravel riders wanting reliable chain durability
Brisbane cyclists booking a drivetrain service or chain replacement

Product Care

Clean and lubricate the chain regularly.
Use quality road or gravel chain lubricant suited to riding conditions.
Wipe excess lubricant after application to reduce dirt build-up.
Check chain wear with a quality chain checker.
Replace the chain before it excessively wears the cassette and chainrings.
Clean more often after wet rides, dusty gravel or indoor trainer use.
Avoid harsh degreasers that strip lubrication from inside the rollers.
Inspect the PowerLock and chain links after installation.
Do not reuse heavily worn connectors.
Have shifting checked after fitting a new chain.

Warranty Information

Warranty coverage is subject to SRAM or retailer terms and conditions.
Warranty generally applies to manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship.
Normal chain wear, poor lubrication, corrosion, incorrect installation, drivetrain incompatibility, crash damage and contamination are generally not covered.
Chain life depends on riding conditions, lubrication, cleaning habits, cassette condition and rider power.
Professional installation is recommended for correct sizing, PowerLock fitting and drivetrain adjustment.

Competitive Cyclist product coverage, current listing positions the Force E1 Flattop Chain as a next-generation road and gravel chain designed for smooth shifting, reduced noise, long wear life and SRAM AXS compatibility.

Bike-components product documentation, current listing highlights the non-directional design, solid pin construction, PowerLock connector and suitability for road, triathlon and time-trial style drivetrain setups using compatible SRAM systems.

Rider feedback around SRAM Flattop chains is generally positive, especially from AXS users who value smooth shifting and a quiet drivetrain.

Common positive rider comments include:

Smooth shifting across SRAM AXS cassettes
Quiet running when properly lubricated
Good durability for road and gravel use

SRAM RED E1 Flattop Chain

Lighter and more premium than Force
Often features more extensive cut-outs or higher-end finishing
Higher price point
Best for riders chasing the lightest SRAM AXS road chain

SRAM Rival Flattop Chain

More affordable SRAM AXS chain option
Slightly heavier and less premium than Force
Good for everyday road and gravel riders
Best for value-focused SRAM AXS maintenance

SRAM Force E1 Flattop Chain

Strong balance of weight, durability and price
Compatible with 12-speed road and 13-speed XPLR AXS
Hard Chrome treatment for wear resistance
Excellent choice for performance riders and regular servicing

Shimano 12-Speed Road Chains

Designed for Shimano drivetrains only
Not compatible with SRAM Flattop systems
Excellent shifting on Shimano road groupsets
Wrong choice for SRAM AXS Flattop drivetrains

KMC 12-Speed Chains

Broad compatibility options depending on model
Often popular for value and colour options
Compatibility must be checked carefully
Not always ideal for SRAM Flattop-specific systems

Where the SRAM Force E1 Chain Stands Out

Correct factory match for SRAM Force AXS and XPLR AXS drivetrains
Flattop technology for quiet, strong performance

Nice. Looks cool. Works as you'd expect a force chain to work

Real Sram Force Chain

Great buy. It was the new version of the force chain with the cutouts but not the thru-holes of the red chain.
