Gen 5 carbon construction
The Cannondale SuperSix EVO Frameset uses the standard Gen 5 carbon construction rather than the lighter Hi-MOD or Series 0 LAB71 layups. It retains the same fundamental aerodynamic shape, race geometry and integration concept while using a more economical carbon schedule. Its claimed 910 g painted frame weight remains highly competitive for a disc-brake aero road frameset at this price.
This construction makes the Cannondale SuperSix EVO Frameset especially attractive to riders who value the complete riding experience more than removing the final 100 to 200 grams. The money saved compared with premium carbon versions can be directed towards carbon road wheels, fast tubeless tyres, an electronic groupset, a power meter or a professional bike fit.
Proportional Response engineering
Cannondale adjusts the geometry and carbon layup according to frame size rather than simply enlarging or reducing one master design. The objective is to give smaller and larger riders comparable levels of stiffness, power transfer, comfort and handling.
The fork offset also changes through the size range. Sizes 44 to 54 receive a 55 mm offset, while sizes 56 to 61 use a 45 mm offset. This helps maintain consistent trail and steering behaviour instead of allowing larger frames to become slow and smaller frames to feel unnecessarily nervous.
Aerodynamically optimised tube profiles
The frame and fork use tube profiles individually shaped for their structural and aerodynamic roles. Cannondale developed the platform using computational fluid dynamics and wind-tunnel evaluation, refining the frontal area, head tube, fork, down tube and seat-tube junctions to reduce drag without producing the weight and harshness sometimes associated with a dedicated aero bike.
The Gen 5 platform takes an all-round approach to race performance. It is designed to climb efficiently, accelerate positively and maintain speed across exposed or rolling roads rather than specialising exclusively in one type of terrain.
Delta steerer integration
The Delta-shaped steerer creates internal space for hydraulic brake hoses while presenting a smaller frontal area to the wind. It produces a clean, uninterrupted cockpit appearance and supports compatible fully integrated Cannondale front-end configurations.
Although visually appealing, full internal routing requires more workshop time when brake hoses, headset bearings or cockpit components need replacement. Initial bike assembly and major servicing should be completed by an experienced road bike mechanic familiar with integrated carbon cockpits.
Electronic drivetrain optimisation
The Cannondale SuperSix EVO Frameset is built around electronic shifting. Removing mechanical gear-cable ports creates a cleaner exterior and simplifies the aerodynamic design, but it means the frame is not intended for a conventional cable-operated front and rear derailleur system.
BSA threaded bottom bracket
The 68 mm BSA threaded bottom bracket is a practical feature on a modern race bike. It supports a wide selection of bottom brackets for Shimano, SRAM and compatible aftermarket cranksets, while worn bearings can be replaced without pressing cups directly into the carbon shell.
This arrangement is generally easy for Australian bicycle workshops to service and can simplify the diagnosis of bottom bracket noise compared with some press-fit systems.
UDH compatibility
The Universal Derailleur Hanger provides a widely available replacement interface and helps align the frameset with current drivetrain standards. Replacement availability is particularly valuable for riders travelling to interstate races, cycling holidays or overseas events.
Integrated aerodynamic hydration
The included CarbonGrip cages and Gripper bottles are shaped to work with the frame’s airflow. Instead of functioning as unrelated accessories, they complete the aerodynamic profile around the down tube and seat tube.
The cages can also hold conventional round cycling bottles, allowing riders to use standard bottles during long-distance events, organised feed zones or everyday training.
