Frameset / Chassis Notes

This listing is for the frame only unless otherwise specified by the retailer. Handlebar, stem, seatpost, saddle, drivetrain, wheels and finishing kit should be selected separately to suit rider fit, build preference and intended use.

ENVE Real-World Fast Design

The Melee is built around ENVE’s Real-World Fast design approach, which focuses on speed, handling and efficiency in real riding conditions. That means the frame is not just shaped for controlled wind tunnel testing, but also for crosswinds, rough roads, bunch riding, descents and variable tyre choices.

ENVE M.O.D. Carbon Construction

ENVE’s M.O.D. carbon layup is engineered to deliver the stiffness needed for racing and sprinting while preserving compliance for long-distance comfort. The result is a frame that feels sharp under power but not overly harsh on broken road surfaces.

Aero Tube Shaping

The frame uses aero-influenced tube profiles designed to work with modern ENVE SES wheel systems and high-performance road tyres. The goal is reduced drag, stable handling and a clean integrated front end.

T47 Threaded Bottom Bracket

The T47 inboard bottom bracket standard is a major practical advantage. It combines a wide, stiff bottom bracket area with the serviceability of a threaded system. For riders and workshops, this can mean easier maintenance and reduced creak risk compared with some press-fit designs.

Integrated Front End

Internal hose and cable routing keeps the cockpit clean, quiet and aero. ENVE’s integrated front-end system routes brake lines and compatible shift wires through the bar, stem and headset area for a premium superbike finish.

Size-Specific Handling

The Melee is offered in seven frame sizes and uses multiple fork rakes to help keep steering feel consistent across the size range. This is important because a well-fitting race bike should feel balanced, predictable and confident regardless of rider size.

Modern Tyre Clearance

With clearance for up to 35c tyres, the Melee is more versatile than traditional race frames. Riders can run fast 28mm tyres for racing, 30mm to 32mm tyres for rough chip seal and high-mileage training, or larger tyres where comfort and grip are the priority.

Key Geometry Highlights

The ENVE Melee is designed as a race-focused road bike with geometry tuned around precise handling, efficient positioning and consistent ride feel across sizes.

Notable geometry features include:

Seven frame sizes for accurate fit selection
Five fork rake options to maintain consistent trail and handling
410mm chainstays on most sizes for responsive acceleration and road race handling
Balanced stack and reach progression across the size range
Tyre-specific trail tuning around modern 27mm to 35mm road tyres

Fit Checklist Before Purchase

Before choosing the frameset, confirm:

Your ideal frame size using stack and reach
Required saddle height and seatpost setback
Preferred stem length and handlebar width
Current bike fit measurements
Desired tyre width and wheel choice
Drivetrain selection: Shimano, SRAM or Campagnolo compatible system
Brake rotor preference and adapter requirements
Whether you want a fully integrated front-end setup
Professional bike fit before finalising cockpit parts

Recommended Brisbane Build Direction

For South East Queensland riding, the Melee pairs especially well with:

28mm tyres for fast bunch rides and racing
30mm tyres for all-round road performance
32mm tyres for comfort on rough chip seal and long endurance roads
ENVE SES or Foundation wheels
Shimano Ultegra Di2, Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, SRAM Force AXS or SRAM Red AXS
160mm front rotor for confident descending
140mm or 160mm rear rotor depending on rider weight and terrain

Ideal For

Competitive road racers and criterium riders
Riders building a bespoke, high‑end carbon race bike
Cyclists seeking aero efficiency with confident real‑world handling
Brisbane riders paired with professional bike fitting and custom builds

Product Care

Clean the frame with bike-safe wash products and a soft cloth.
Avoid harsh solvents, abrasive polish or pressure washing around bearings and cable ports.
Use a calibrated torque wrench on all carbon frame, cockpit, brake and seatpost hardware.
Follow ENVE torque guidance for headset, cockpit, thru axles, derailleur hanger and brake mounts.
Use carbon assembly paste where specified.
Keep the T47 bottom bracket area clean and dry after wet rides.
Inspect the frame after crashes, transport damage, chain drops or heavy impacts.
Check headset preload and cockpit bolts regularly.
Replace bearings if they become rough, noisy or contaminated.
Have internal routing, brake hoses and electronic shifting serviced by an experienced mechanic.

Warranty Information

ENVE frames are commonly supported by a factory limited warranty for the original owner when registered within the required timeframe.
ENVE also promotes incidental damage support for eligible original owners, subject to product registration and program terms.
Warranty generally applies to manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship.
Crash damage, incorrect assembly, over-torquing, incompatible parts, transport damage, poor maintenance, modified components and normal wear are generally not covered under standard warranty.
Professional assembly is strongly recommended for headset routing, T47 bottom bracket installation, cockpit setup, brake hose routing, electronic shifting setup and frame protection.
A professional bike fit is recommended before cutting the steerer tube or finalising handlebar width, stem length and seatpost setback.

Cycling and retailer product coverage, 2025 to 2026 commonly describes the Melee as a fast, versatile and fit-focused road chassis that offers 35mm tyre clearance, integrated cockpit routing and a strong balance of aerodynamic speed and real-world ride quality.

Rider Feedback & Community Sentiment

Rider feedback around the ENVE Melee is strongly positive among cyclists who want a refined race platform without sacrificing practical tyre clearance.

Common positive rider comments include:

Very responsive under power
Stable and predictable at speed
Excellent steering feel in fast corners
Modern tyre clearance makes it more useful than older race frames
T47 bottom bracket is appreciated for serviceability
Slipstream Pearl finish looks premium and distinctive
Builds beautifully with ENVE wheels and cockpit parts
Great option for a custom high-end road bike

Some riders note that the Melee rewards careful fit planning. Because ENVE treats the frame as part of a complete chassis system, cockpit length, handlebar width and seatpost setback should be selected properly before the build.
