Tyre Compatibility

  • Minimum recommended tyre size: 700x36c
  • Optimal tyre range: 700x40c to 700x44c

The frame geometry is optimised around an approximately 42mm gravel tyre. Riders can choose faster 36mm to 40mm tyres for racing and smoother hardpack, or move towards 45mm to 50mm options for corrugations, loose gravel, sand and more technically demanding routes.

Actual tyre width varies with rim width, casing design and inflation pressure, so the completed wheel and tyre combination should always be measured.

SRAM UDH and Full-Mount Considerations

The ENVE MOG Frameset uses the Universal Derailleur Hanger standard and can physically accept appropriate SRAM Full-Mount rear derailleurs. However, complete drivetrain compatibility must still be checked.

SRAM does not recommend every Eagle Transmission drivetrain combination with road or gravel cranks on frames using shorter chainstays. The ENVE MOG Frameset has 420mm chainstays, so a mixed Transmission configuration should not be assumed compatible simply because the frame uses a Universal Derailleur Hanger.

Notable Tech, Materials & Construction

ENVE M.O.D Carbon Construction

  • The ENVE MOG Frameset uses ENVE M.O.D carbon construction, drawing on the company’s experience developing premium carbon wheels, handlebars, forks and complete bicycles.
  • The carbon lay-up is engineered to combine low mass with the strength and stiffness required for racing, loaded adventure riding and rough gravel. At approximately 950g for a painted 56cm frame without hardware, the ENVE MOG Frameset provides a genuinely lightweight foundation without restricting the bike to smooth racecourses.
  • The design seeks to deliver an immediate response under power while retaining enough controlled compliance to prevent the frame from feeling excessively harsh over corrugations and deteriorated roads.
  • This balance is essential for a high-performance gravel bike. Excessive flexibility can make a bicycle feel vague when climbing or cornering, while unnecessary rigidity transfers more fatigue to the rider. The ENVE MOG Frameset is engineered to sit between those extremes.

Race Efficiency Without Narrow Specialisation

  • The ENVE MOG Frameset is not designed solely as a gravel race bike or exclusively as a bikepacking frame. Its geometry deliberately occupies the middle ground between a road-derived gravel machine and a drop-bar mountain bike.
  • The frame feels efficient while climbing and accelerating, but its steering and wheelbase provide greater confidence than a twitchy cyclocross-style platform when descending on loose surfaces.

This broad operating range allows the ENVE MOG Frameset to be built in several distinct ways:

  • A lightweight gravel race bike with fast 40mm tyres
  • A high-volume all-terrain build with 45mm to 50mm tyres
  • A long-distance endurance bike with integrated storage
  • A bikepacking setup with top-tube, bottle and fork-mounted luggage
  • A technical gravel bike with a dropper post
  • A premium all-road machine with fast tyres and a compact cockpit

IN-Route Internal Cable Routing

  • ENVE’s IN-Route system sends brake hoses and compatible control lines through the handlebar, stem and headset before they enter the frame.
  • This eliminates exposed hoses at the front of the bike, creating a clean appearance while reducing aerodynamic disturbance. An anti-rattle finishing kit helps secure the hoses and control lines inside the system.
  • The integration does not automatically restrict the bicycle to one drivetrain brand. The ENVE MOG Frameset supports a broad selection of mechanical and electronic configurations, although individual compatibility must still be checked carefully.
  • The compromise is additional servicing complexity. Replacing headset bearings, packing the bicycle for air travel or changing the cockpit can require movement or disconnection of brake hoses. A professional fit is therefore strongly recommended before final hose length and handlebar position are established.

Cargo Bay Integrated Storage

The Cargo Bay is built into the downtube and provides approximately 0.6 litres of internal storage.

Two lightweight neoprene bags are included. They can be positioned in opposite directions inside the downtube, helping organise equipment and prevent rattling.

Suitable contents can include:

  • Spare inner tube
  • Tubeless repair tools
  • Tyre levers
  • Compact inflator
  • CO2 cartridge
  • Multitool
  • Chain link
  • Lightweight wind vest
  • Emergency nutrition
  • Small spare parts

Internal storage allows riders to carry essential repair equipment without filling jersey pockets or relying on a large saddle bag. This is particularly valuable on a bike fitted with a dropper post, where a conventional saddle bag may rub against the post or contact the rear tyre when the saddle is lowered.

The Cargo Bay also provides useful access to the frame’s internal routing, although all equipment should be placed in the supplied bags rather than left loose inside the downtube.

T47 Threaded Bottom Bracket

  • The ENVE MOG Frameset uses a T47 inboard threaded bottom bracket.
  • T47 combines a large-diameter shell with threaded installation. It can accommodate a range of modern crank-spindle formats through the correct bottom bracket while avoiding many of the tolerance and noise concerns associated with poorly manufactured press-fit systems.
  • For Australian gravel riders, this is a practical long-term advantage. Bottom bracket bearings are heavily exposed to dust, fine grit, creek crossings and wet roads, so straightforward removal and replacement can significantly improve serviceability.

Universal Derailleur Hanger

  • The Universal Derailleur Hanger improves replacement availability and creates compatibility with selected modern drivetrain systems.
  • A slightly bent hanger can cause poor shifting, excessive noise and inconsistent chain alignment. Standards-based replacement is especially useful during travel, bikepacking and gravel racing, where sourcing a rare frame-specific hanger can be difficult.
  • The Universal Derailleur Hanger interface should not be interpreted as universal drivetrain compatibility. Cassette, chainline, chainstay length, shifter and derailleur requirements must still be evaluated together.

Size-Specific Fork Rake

  • ENVE matches six frame sizes with three fork-rake options.
  • Smaller frames receive greater fork offset, while larger sizes use progressively shorter offsets. This approach helps maintain similar steering behaviour and trail characteristics across the complete size range.
  • Without size-specific steering adjustments, smaller bicycles can develop disproportionate handling characteristics because of the geometric compromises required to fit 700c wheels beneath shorter riders.
  • The three-rake approach demonstrates that ENVE has treated each size as a complete handling system rather than simply enlarging or shrinking one central frame.

Wide 700x50mm Tyre Clearance

The ability to fit measured 700x50mm tyres is one of the ENVE MOG Frameset’s strongest advantages.

Larger tyres can provide:

  • Better traction on loose climbs
  • Greater control through sand
  • Improved comfort over corrugations
  • Increased confidence on rocky descents
  • Lower pressures without sacrificing rim protection
  • Greater stability during loaded bikepacking
  • More freedom to explore light singletrack

Riders do not need to use the maximum width. The optimal 40mm to 44mm range provides a strong balance for mixed Australian gravel, while narrower tyres can increase agility and reduce weight for racing.

ENVE does not recommend 650b wheels for the ENVE MOG Frameset. The frame is designed around 700c rolling characteristics and already provides enough clearance for high-volume tyres, reducing the usual reason for moving to a smaller wheel.

Dropper-Post Compatibility

  • The standard 27.2mm seat tube supports a compatible rigid carbon seatpost or gravel dropper post.
  • A dropper enables the rider to lower the saddle from the handlebar, creating more room to move on steep, loose or technically demanding descents.

It is not essential for maintained gravel roads, but it can transform control on rough fire trails and light singletrack. The frame’s internal storage also avoids the saddle-bag interference that can occur when a dropper is lowered.

Mudguard and Equipment Compatibility

The ENVE MOG Frameset includes mudguard compatibility, top-tube bag mounts, fork accessory mounts and capacity for three bottle cages.

This gives riders practical flexibility for:

  • Wet-weather gravel riding
  • Long-distance events
  • Bikepacking
  • Audax-style mixed-surface routes
  • Multi-day adventure riding
  • Remote summer rides requiring additional water capacity

A rear rack can be fitted using an appropriate compatible system. Riders should select a solution that does not depend on conventional upper seatstay eyelets, as the frame is not designed around traditional upper rack mounts.
