SRAM Highlights: Tech, Riders & Latest Lineup

SRAM has built its reputation on doing things a little differently, and in recent years its road and gravel development teams have doubled down on that philosophy. Rather than simply chasing weight savings or adding extra gears, the company has focused heavily on rider experience. The launch of the latest RED AXS road groupset in 2024 highlighted this approach.

On the gravel side, SRAM introduced one of the industry's most significant drivetrain developments with RED XPLR AXS. Borrowing ideas from its mountain bike Transmission platform, the company created a UDH-based Full Mount derailleur system that removes the traditional derailleur hanger entirely. This design improves alignment accuracy, impact resistance and shift consistency, especially on rough terrain where conventional systems can struggle.

SRAM's latest road and gravel offerings focus on delivering flagship technology to a wider audience. The headline products remain RED AXS and RED XPLR AXS, but the company has also expanded access through the latest Force AXS, Rival AXS, Force XPLR AXS and Rival XPLR AXS ranges. These newer mid-tier groupsets incorporate many of the ergonomics, braking improvements and wireless features originally developed for RED, making advanced technology far more attainable for club riders, amateur racers and local teams.
