SRAM Force AXS E1 2x Wireless Road Groupset

SRAM AXS removes shift cables and communication wires between the handlebar controls and derailleurs. Wireless construction creates a cleaner road bike cockpit and simplifies installation through internally routed frames.

The SRAM AXS app allows riders and bicycle mechanics to:

• Receive maintenance notifications

Wireless operation eliminates cable stretch, contaminated gear housing and gradual deterioration in mechanical shift-cable performance. Mechanical alignment remains important, particularly derailleur-hanger alignment and front-derailleur positioning.

eTap shift logic

The default SRAM eTap layout uses the right paddle to select a harder rear gear and the left paddle to select an easier rear gear. Pressing both paddles together changes the front chainring.

This simple arrangement is easy to understand and helps reduce incorrect shifts during racing, climbing and fast bunch riding. Individual button assignments can be changed through the AXS app.

Redesigned hood ergonomics

The E1 controls use a reshaped hood body intended to accommodate a wider range of hand sizes. Improved finger wrap around the hood provides a more secure grip and can reduce hand fatigue during long rides.

The hood surface, primary paddles and Bonus Buttons use different textures so riders can identify each control by feel, including when wearing gloves or riding in wet conditions.

One-finger hydraulic braking

The revised lever pivot and hydraulic architecture reduce the effort required to generate braking force. Riders can access strong braking from the hoods as well as the drops, reducing the need to reposition the hands before corners or steep descents.

This is a meaningful benefit on long Australian descents, congested urban roads and undulating bunch rides where braking inputs are frequent.

Reach Adjust

Reach Adjust changes the resting position of the brake lever relative to the handlebar. It helps accommodate different hand sizes and allows riders to position the lever for secure one-finger braking.

Unlike SRAM RED AXS E1, the Force controls do not provide the same independent Contact Point Adjust feature. Riders comparing the two groupsets should consider this one of RED’s functional advantages.

Bonus Buttons

A programmable button sits on the inside of each hood. Depending on the system configuration, it can provide an additional shift point or control supported ANT+ functions on a compatible cycling computer.

For riders using a supported Hammerhead Karoo, the buttons can reduce the need to remove a hand from the controls when changing data pages.

Carbon brake levers

The carbon lever blades reduce weight while providing the stiffness needed for accurate braking. Their shaped lower section also gives the rider a secure contact point when braking from the drops.

Force AXS E1 front shifting

The front derailleur uses a narrower cage to begin moving the chain sooner. SRAM Yaw technology changes the cage angle as it travels, while electronic auto trim makes small positional corrections as the rider shifts across the cassette.

These technologies work together to provide:

• Faster changes between chainrings
• Reduced cage movement before chain engagement
• Less chain rub
• Quieter operation
• Improved shifting under moderate pedalling load
• Easier setup with compatible alignment tools

The best results are achieved with matching SRAM X-Range chainrings and a correctly installed Road Flattop chain.

Force AXS E1 rear shifting

The rear derailleur uses a lighter carbon cage and larger X-SYNC pulleys. Larger pulleys reduce chain articulation as each link passes through the derailleur, supporting smoother and more efficient operation.

Compatibility with cassettes from 10-28T to 10-36T means one derailleur can cover close-ratio racing gears and lower climbing gears without requiring a cage change.

Flattop chain construction

The SRAM Force Flattop chain uses a flat upper surface and a profile developed for SRAM’s 12-speed road drivetrains. Its design creates room for tightly spaced cassette sprockets while providing the strength required for electronic shifting.

The chain must be installed in the correct orientation and joined using the appropriate SRAM PowerLock.
