SRAM AXS removes shift cables and communication wires between the handlebar controls and derailleurs. Wireless construction creates a cleaner road bike cockpit and simplifies installation through internally routed frames.

The default SRAM eTap layout uses the right paddle to select a harder rear gear and the left paddle to select an easier rear gear. Pressing both paddles together changes the front chainring.

Redesigned hood ergonomics

The E1 controls use a reshaped hood body intended to accommodate a wider range of hand sizes. Improved finger wrap around the hood provides a more secure grip and can reduce hand fatigue during long rides.

The hood surface, primary paddles and Bonus Buttons use different textures so riders can identify each control by feel, including when wearing gloves or riding in wet conditions.

One-finger hydraulic braking

The revised lever pivot and hydraulic architecture reduce the effort required to generate braking force. Riders can access strong braking from the hoods as well as the drops, reducing the need to reposition the hands before corners or steep descents.

This is a meaningful benefit on long Australian descents, congested urban roads and undulating bunch rides where braking inputs are frequent.

Reach Adjust

Reach Adjust changes the resting position of the brake lever relative to the handlebar. It helps accommodate different hand sizes and allows riders to position the lever for secure one-finger braking.

Unlike SRAM RED AXS E1, the Force controls do not provide the same independent Contact Point Adjust feature. Riders comparing the two groupsets should consider this one of RED’s functional advantages.

Bonus Buttons

A programmable button sits on the inside of each hood. Depending on the system configuration, it can provide an additional shift point or control supported ANT+ functions on a compatible cycling computer.

For riders using a supported Hammerhead Karoo, the buttons can reduce the need to remove a hand from the controls when changing data pages.

Carbon brake levers
