ERE Research Highlights: Tech, Riders, Product Lineup
If you haven't heard of Ere Research yet, it’s time to pay attention. Founded by industry veteran Piet van der Velde—who spent decades designing for heavy-hitters like Trek, Colnago, and Shimano.
Rather than chasing a fashionable specification simply because everyone else has one, the Dutch development team looks at the wheel, tyre, hub and rider as a complete system. Recent examples include proprietary IONA and Panama hub platforms, carbon spokes on selected race wheels, laser-etched carbon rims that avoid fragile decals, wider rim profiles for modern tyres and stability-focused aerodynamic shapes.
ERE wheels are designed in-house in the Netherlands, tested at multiple locations to international standards, ISO tested and submitted for UCI approval. Wheelbuilding includes 100 per cent quality control, with individual spoke tensions measured and recorded for traceability. The 2026 Explorator CCR45 took that process further through ISO-standard testing, UCI approval procedures and field testing on the cobbled sectors around Roubaix.

Rather than just dumping massive budgets into sponsoring untouchable World Tour road giants, Ere actively engages with the gritty, fast-growing gravel and local road racing scenes. A perfect example of Ere’s grassroots and elite cyclist support is their ongoing partnership with the brilliant Gabrielle Fox, the 2025 Irish Women's National Gravel Champion.

What's New and Noteworthy?
The headline addition for 2026 is the Explorator CCR45, a carbon all-road wheelset aimed squarely at riders who mix tarmac, rough lanes, cobbles and gravel. Its 45mm-deep rims provide an aerodynamic road-style profile, while the 25mm internal width supports contemporary higher-volume tyres. ERE recommends 32mm to 55mm rubber, with broader compatibility from 29mm to 71mm.
