Notable Tech, Materials & Construction

Tri-Laminate Construction

Silca Nastro Cuscino 2.5 is not a basic single-density foam tape. It uses a layered construction designed to tune grip, comfort and vibration control separately. This gives the tape a more refined feel than many standard stock bar tapes.

SILCAthane High-Grip Surface

The SILCAthane outer layer is designed to provide a tacky, confident hand feel in both dry and damp conditions. This is useful for Brisbane summer riding, sweaty climbs and fast bunch rides where secure hand placement matters.

SILCAlon Cushion Layer

The SILCAlon layer is designed to improve comfort and rebound, helping reduce hand fatigue over rough bitumen, coarse chip seal and long endurance rides.

3M Visco-Elastic Adhesive

The adhesive backing helps the tape stay secure while adding damping to reduce high-frequency vibration. It also supports a cleaner wrap and more stable long-term installation.

Butterfly Lever Clamp Covers

The included adhesive-backed butterfly pieces help cover the back of the brake/shift lever clamp area without adding excessive bulk. This gives a cleaner finish and reduces the chance of uncomfortable gaps behind the hoods.

Expanding Bar-End Plugs

The aluminium/composite expanding plugs are a premium touch compared with basic push-in plastic plugs. They help keep the tape secure and improve the finished look of the cockpit.

  • Use the butterfly pieces behind the brake/shift levers for a clean hood transition.

Product Care & Warranty Info

Product Care

  • Clean gently with a damp cloth and mild soap.
  • Avoid harsh degreasers, solvents or abrasive brushes.
  • Wipe down after hot, sweaty or wet rides.
  • Allow tape to dry naturally after rain or washing.
  • Replace tape if it becomes torn, loose, slippery or heavily worn.
  • Check bar plugs regularly to ensure they remain secure.
  • Avoid overstretching during installation.
  • Re-wrap if tape shifts, bunches or lifts near the hoods.
  • Inspect handlebars whenever old tape is removed.
  • Replace bar tape at least yearly for performance and safety checks, or sooner with heavy use.

Warranty Information

  • Silca bar tape includes a 1-year crash replacement program under current Silca terms.
  • Manufacturer defect coverage is generally listed for 2 years.
  • Normal wear, cosmetic wear, contamination, poor installation, cuts, crash damage outside program conditions and adhesive wear are generally not covered as standard warranty defects.
  • Professional installation is recommended for correct tension, clean finish and long-term security.

For Brisbane and Queensland riders, we recommend replacing bar tape regularly as part of a road bike or gravel bike service, especially if riding in heat, humidity, rain, high-sweat conditions or rough roads. Fresh Silca tape improves comfort, grip, hygiene, control and the overall feel of the bike.
