Notable Tech, Materials & Construction

TPU Lightweight Construction

The RideNow Road Light tube uses thermoplastic polyurethane rather than traditional butyl rubber. TPU tubes are valued because they can be made much lighter and more compact while still maintaining useful strength and elasticity.

36g Claimed Weight

At just 36g, this tube can save significant rotating weight compared with many standard butyl road tubes, which often sit around 80g to 120g depending on size and valve length. Reducing rotating weight can improve acceleration feel and make the bike feel livelier on climbs.

Compact Packability

TPU tubes fold down much smaller than traditional butyl tubes. This makes them ideal as a spare tube for riders who want to save space in a saddle bag, tool canister or jersey pocket.

High-Performance TPU Material

RideNow uses high-performance TPU material designed to balance low weight, toughness and flexibility. The tube is built for riders who want a practical performance upgrade without converting to tubeless.

Reinforced Valve Construction

The black aluminium valve is designed to provide a stable and durable air interface. Valve quality matters on TPU tubes because the valve-to-tube junction is a critical part of long-term reliability.

Performance-Oriented Ride Feel

TPU tubes are popular with road cyclists because they can offer a more responsive feel than standard butyl tubes and may reduce rolling resistance depending on tyre, pressure and road surface.

  • Your valve length suits your rim depth
  • Your rim tape is smooth, correctly fitted and undamaged
  • Your tyre casing does not have sharp internal cuts or debris
  • You are using correct tyre pressure for rider weight, rim type and tyre size

Installation Notes

  • Do not inflate the tube outside the tyre beyond a very small amount.
  • Add just enough air for the tube to take shape before installation.
  • Check the tube is not trapped under the tyre bead.
  • Inflate slowly and inspect both sides of the tyre bead.
  • Avoid using metal tyre levers where possible.
  • TPU tubes require care during installation because they are thinner and lighter than butyl tubes.

Product Care

Industry & Rider Feedback. A few Comparison Options

General cycling media and workshop commentary around TPU tubes is broadly positive when they are installed correctly. The key benefits regularly highlighted are lower weight, compact storage, responsive ride feel and strong value as a performance upgrade compared with latex or tubeless conversion.

Rider Feedback & Community Sentiment

Rider feedback around RideNow TPU tubes is generally positive, especially from road cyclists looking for a lighter and more compact setup.

Common positive rider comments include:

  • Noticeably lighter than standard butyl tubes
  • Very compact as a spare tube
  • Good value compared with premium TPU brands
  • Helps wheels feel more responsive
  • Easy to carry two spares on long rides
  • Useful for race day and climbing bikes
  • Black valve looks clean on modern wheels
  • Good option for riders not ready to go tubeless

Some riders note that TPU tubes need careful installation and should not be overinflated outside the tyre. Rim tape condition, tyre bead seating and correct valve length are important for reliability.
