SRAM Force AXS E1 HRD Wireless Shift-Brake System

Redesigned hood and lever architecture

SRAM developed the E1 control shape using more than four years of rider feedback. The revised body provides better support beneath the palm and allows more secure finger wrap around the front of the hood.

The shape is intended to accommodate a broader range of hand sizes while reducing the possibility of fingers becoming trapped between the lever and handlebar during hard braking. It also makes strong braking more accessible from the hoods, where road and gravel riders spend most of their time

One-finger hydraulic braking

The redesigned lever and hydraulic architecture reduce the hand force required to apply the brake. Riders can generate meaningful stopping power with one finger from either the hoods or drops, leaving the remaining fingers securely wrapped around the handlebar.

This provides several practical benefits:

• Reduced hand fatigue during long descents
• Better grip security on rough roads
• More controlled braking through corners
• Easier speed management in a bunch
• Greater confidence in wet conditions
• Improved control for riders with smaller hands
• Less need to move into the drops before braking

Professional reviewers have found the lighter action to be one of the most noticeable improvements in the current Force generation.

SRAM AXS wireless integration

The shift controls communicate wirelessly with compatible SRAM AXS derailleurs. This removes mechanical shift cables and electronic communication wires between the controls and derailleurs.

eTap shift logic

SRAM’s standard eTap arrangement uses the right paddle to select a harder rear gear and the left paddle to select an easier gear. On a compatible 2x drivetrain, pressing both primary paddles operates the front derailleur.

The controls can be reassigned through the SRAM AXS app, allowing riders to personalise the system around their preferences.

Bonus Button

A textured button is positioned on the inside of each hood. It can be assigned as an auxiliary shift control or used to operate supported functions on a compatible ANT+ cycling computer.

Depending on the connected device, this may allow a rider to change a data page without removing a hand from the hood. The function is especially useful during racing, triathlon and structured training.

Carbon LFRT brake lever

The brake blade uses carbon LFRT composite construction to balance low weight, stiffness and manufacturing consistency. The rigid lever helps transmit finger force into the hydraulic system without excessive flex.
