The Cannondale SystemBar R-One combines the handlebar and stem in a single high-modulus carbon structure. Removing the conventional handlebar clamp and separate stem hardware creates a cleaner leading edge while allowing the carbon lay-up to be tuned across the complete cockpit.

The one-piece design provides a firm and immediate connection between the rider and front wheel. This is especially noticeable during hard accelerations, out-of-saddle climbing, fast changes of direction and high-speed cornering. The broad aero-shaped tops also reduce the visual and aerodynamic clutter normally created by a separate round handlebar, stem and exposed hoses.

Cannondale developed the cockpit with MOMODESIGN, drawing on the Italian design company’s experience in motorsport-inspired aerodynamics, ergonomics and industrial design. The result is an integrated carbon handlebar that looks purpose-built for a contemporary race bike rather than appearing to be a collection of separate components.

Brake hoses are routed internally through the cockpit and into Cannondale’s Delta Steerer system. This creates an exceptionally tidy front end and reduces exposed cabling, but it also makes installation more involved than fitting a conventional handlebar and stem.

The 80 mm reach gives the cockpit familiar modern road geometry without pushing the controls excessively far forward. The 130 mm drop provides a purposeful racing position while remaining manageable for riders who regularly move between the hoods and drops.

The 20 mm flare means the drops are slightly wider than the nominal hood position. This provides extra leverage and stability when sprinting, descending or cornering while preserving a narrower, more aerodynamic position at the brake hoods.

A 380 mm option can suit riders seeking a compact and aerodynamic position. The 400 mm version offers a versatile middle ground, while the 420 mm option provides additional upper-body room and leverage.

In its review of the fourth-generation Cannondale SuperSix EVO, Cyclingnews praised the bike’s balance of aerodynamic performance, low weight and predictable handling. The SystemBar R-One formed an important part of the premium build’s streamlined front end. The review found the complete bike exceptionally capable from a pure performance perspective, although the proprietary cockpit arrangement was recognised as less flexible than a conventional handlebar and stem.

Cyclist’s later assessment of the evolving SuperSix EVO platform again highlighted the value of a narrow, ergonomic and fully integrated cockpit in reducing frontal area and cleaning up airflow around the front of the bike. The publication also identified the familiar compromise of integrated systems: excellent aerodynamic presentation and race-focused control, but less straightforward fit adjustment.

Roval Rapide Cockpit

The Roval Rapide Cockpit is lighter, with a claimed weight of approximately 307 g in a 400 x 100 mm configuration, and offers more width, stem-length and flare combinations. Its 75 mm reach and 127 mm drop are slightly more compact than the Cannondale cockpit.

The Roval is an attractive alternative for riders prioritising minimum weight and broader compatibility. However, the Cannondale SystemBar R-One integrates specifically with the Delta Steerer system, giving a compatible SuperSix EVO a more cohesive factory appearance.

Vision Metron 5D ACR EVO

The Vision Metron 5D ACR EVO has an approximate claimed weight of 320 g in a 420 x 110 mm size, with an 80 mm reach, 125 mm drop and -6-degree stem angle. Its 10-degree forward sweep is designed to provide a more open hand and upper-body position.

The Vision offers a wider selection of stem lengths and bar widths and is compatible with Vision’s ACR routing ecosystem. It is a strong cross-shop option for riders building around a conventional 1 1/8-inch ACR-compatible front end. The Cannondale remains the cleaner and more direct choice for a bike designed around the Delta Steerer system.

ENVE SES AR One-Piece Handlebar

The ENVE SES AR cockpit places greater emphasis on all-road versatility. Its pronounced 18-degree flare creates a substantially wider position in the drops, providing additional leverage and stability on broken surfaces and fast descents.

The ENVE is better suited to riders mixing sealed roads with poorly surfaced backroads or light all-road riding. The Cannondale is more narrowly focused on aerodynamic road racing, with less flare and a more dedicated SuperSix EVO integration.
