One-piece carbon construction

The handlebar and stem are formed as a single carbon structure, eliminating the conventional stem faceplate and handlebar clamp. Fewer separate interfaces reduce the amount of fastening hardware required and create a more direct connection between the rider’s hands and the front wheel.

The design is tuned around a low overall mass and crisp steering response rather than the deeper, more heavily profiled construction normally associated with pure aerodynamic cockpits. At a claimed 265 g, the SystemBar Road SL is 110 g lighter than Cannondale’s 375 g SystemBar Road aero cockpit. Delta Steerer integration

Cannondale’s Delta Steerer system allows the hydraulic brake hoses to pass through the cockpit and into the frame and fork. This removes exposed hoses from the front of the bike while allowing the head tube to retain a narrow profile.

The result is a clear view from the riding position, a seamless visual transition from cockpit to frame and fewer separate components sitting in the airflow. Rather than using an oversized aero top section, the SystemBar Road SL employs relatively lean proportions and rounded upper sections. The rounder tops provide a stable hand position during long seated climbs and give riders a secure platform when alternating between the hoods and tops.

Cyclist tested the fifth-generation Cannondale SuperSix EVO, the platform on which the SystemBar Road SL appears in premium lightweight builds. The review praised the updated bike for becoming lighter and more aerodynamic while retaining its assured handling. The narrower ergonomic cockpit options were specifically identified as one of the improvements, helping create a racier and tidier front end.

Roval Rapide Cockpit

The Roval Rapide is a premium one-piece carbon race cockpit with a claimed weight of approximately 310 g in a 420 x 100 mm configuration. It offers 75 mm reach, 127 mm drop, four degrees of flare and a much larger selection of width and stem combinations.
