Every chainring pair has a 13-tooth difference. This supports consistent front-shift behaviour and limits the cadence disruption that occurs when moving between chainrings.

Important compatibility note

The SRAM RED AXS E1 2x Power Meter Chainring Kit requires compatible SRAM eight-bolt direct-mount road crankarms. Compatibility should be checked carefully if fitting it to an older SRAM crankset, as not every visually similar eight-bolt crank is approved for the current integrated chainring system.

The 52/39T, 54/41T and 56/43T combinations also require a compatible front derailleur, suitable mounting range and adequate frame clearance.

Integrated Quarq power measurement

The strain gauges, power-meter spider and paired chainrings form one integrated assembly. Positioning the measurement system at the spider allows it to capture the combined torque transferred from both crankarms into the chainrings.

The power meter combines measured torque with cadence to calculate rider output in watts. It also reports left-to-right power balance, providing an indication of how each side contributes through the pedal cycle.

The balance figure is calculated from the distribution of torque rather than measured by two completely independent sensors. It is useful for monitoring trends but should not be interpreted as a clinical assessment of leg function.

Temperature compensation

One-piece aluminium chainrings

The inner and outer chainrings are produced as one integrated aluminium structure rather than two separately mounted rings. This increases lateral stiffness and allows SRAM to control the spacing, shift ramps, pickup points and tooth profiles precisely.

Eight-bolt direct mount

The power meter attaches directly to approved SRAM crankarms through an eight-bolt interface. This eliminates a conventional four-bolt or five-bolt chainring spider and creates a stiff connection between the crankarms and chainrings.

The interface also gives compatible SRAM RED and Force crank owners a direct path to crank-based power measurement without purchasing new crankarms.

ANT+ and Bluetooth connectivity

ANT+ provides compatibility with most premium cycling computers, including supported Garmin, Wahoo and Hammerhead devices. Bluetooth Low Energy supports compatible smartphones, indoor training applications and other connected devices.

Size, Fit, Geometry & Measurements

46/33T

The 46/33T combination is the most climbing-oriented option. It is well suited to steep Australian roads, alpine events, gran fondos and endurance riders who prefer a higher cadence.

Paired with a SRAM 10-36T cassette, the 33-tooth inner ring provides a climbing ratio below one-to-one while the 46-tooth outer ring still offers substantial top-end speed through the 10-tooth sprocket.

48/35T

The 48/35T combination provides the strongest all-round balance for Australian club riders. It suits road racing, rolling terrain, fast bunch rides and hilly endurance events without requiring exceptionally high power on climbs.

50/37T

The 50/37T option is directed towards stronger road riders, criterium racers and cyclists who frequently ride at high bunch speeds. The 10-tooth smallest cassette sprocket gives the 50-tooth ring more top-end gearing than its size might suggest.
