Electronic micro-adjustment enables the derailleur position to be fine-tuned without using a barrel adjuster. Mechanical alignment must still be correct before electronic adjustment is attempted.

Orbit fluid-damping technology

Drivetrain fitting requirements

Freehub compatibility

Most compatible SRAM road cassettes with a 10-tooth smallest sprocket require an XDR freehub body. A Shimano HG freehub is generally not suitable for these SRAM 10-tooth road cassettes without changing the freehub body or wheel configuration.

1x and 2x use

In a 2x drivetrain, the derailleur must manage changes in chain position caused by both the cassette and front chainrings. In a 1x system, it manages only the rear cassette but relies more heavily on the chainring tooth profile and Orbit damping for chain retention.

The same E1 derailleur can support either arrangement when the entire drivetrain remains within SRAM’s approved capacity and compatibility requirements.

Frame use

This is a conventional hanger-mounted road derailleur, not a hangerless Full Mount or UDH Transmission derailleur. It must not be installed directly onto a frame as though it were a SRAM mountain bike Transmission or 13-speed RED XPLR unit.
